TRYOUTS are coming up very soon!
Click the button below for all the info!
All outstanding fees, including tuition, must be paid
in order to tryout.

If you're interested in being on team but have not taken summer classes or are new to our studio, you are still able to tryout if you have a dance background and can commit to a full year of team (including summer) this next season.
Summer is crucial for team members
!

The commitment form must be signed and submitted by everyone before lists are posted.
We will also hand one out on the first day of tryouts.

Dance Team Tryout Info
Commitment Form

We hold training classes in the summer for all interested team students.  See the summer schedule for updated information! Attending these classes helps considerably to be considered for a spot on a team.  We will be focusing on skills & technique requirements while teaching small combinations as well.

PARTICIPATING IN THE TRAINING CLASSES DOES NOT GUARANTEE A SPOT ON A TEAM.

  • Students must be 6 years old and up with prior dance experience.
  • Our dancers must be well rounded with experience in ballet, tap and jazz.  Tumbling is a big bonus and highly recommended!
  • Be aware that dance team is a BIG commitment with time and extra expenses.
  • Parents and students MUST read and sign the commitment form (link below).
  • Form must be signed and returned to the studio BEFORE team lists are posted.
  • Taking Extra classes (outside team classes) in tap, jazz, ballet/lyrical and tumbling are highly encouraged (especially tap and tumbling) to develop skills and strength. Please ask a teacher if your child needs any extra class time.
  • Private lessons are also available and encouraged for team students billed at normal private prices.

Being on a team takes dedication, hard work and a passion for dance.

All team members are required to be at practice every week.
If you miss a practice, you must arrange a make up class with your coach.  If you miss 3 practices without making them up, you will not be allowed to compete and will jeopardize your chance for being on team the following year. Extra practices will be held as competition and recital get closer and at the coach's discretion. Attendance at these extra practices is also required. Team members participate in the opening and closing recital numbers so these extra practices are necessary to get those routines worked out and finished.  We keep those opening and closing costumes at a minimal expense, even using past years' costumes or teamwear of some kind. Team students will perform all their competition routines in the recital.

All Dance team members (and their parents) must commit to a full year of team.
This includes the school (competition) year all the way through summer of that year's recital.  If you do not take the summer classes (which strongly emphasizes technique), you will not be considered for the following year's team.  Dance team members all perform in the opening, the closing and all 3 of their own team's routines in recital.

Competitions are held in the spring (usually in March & April) and may involve travelling a few hours and possibly a hotel stay. The farthest we have traveled in recent years has been St. Louis.  We tend to stay local or in the Davenport area.
Generally, we participate in 3-4 competitions during the season. New/beginning teams are more likely to do 2-3 competitions. These expenses are your own responsibility. Fees for groups, duets & trios for each competition  are each around $50-$70 per dance/per competition.  Solos are about $100.   Due dates for competition fees will be announced early and must be paid by the deadlines as we have deadlines to meet for registering.  We will have fundraisers to help offset these expenses as they add up quickly! Participating is very highly encouraged!

Other expenses:  Also, there will be costs for our team jacket, earrings, tights (a minimum of 2 pairs are highly recommended)  and shoes that are all team specific and will be ordered through the studio on announced dates. These items will cost approximately $150-$200 for the first year and will all be ordered in the fall along with costume deposits that will be due sometime in early October.  All team items are ordered early to help eliminate the possibility of back orders.  Makeup and hair supply lists will be given out in the early part of the calendar year and it is your responsibility to purchase these items.

Miscellaneous info: Competition dates will be given out early (as soon as we have them), generally very close to or at tryouts. You'll be given dates for a whole weekend that's best to keep clear until we have specific dates.  We will not have specific days/times that your child will perform until very close to the weekend date so any hotel reservations need to be made early but can be cancelled if not needed. The competition usually give us the schedule for the weekend within a couple of weeks of that specific weekend.  That is out of our control as it's up to the competition to get their schedule together then pass it to us.  You will always be given the schedule just as soon as we have it but we won't know what day of the weekend your child competes until this schedule comes out. All team parents are put into a FB group to share info and dates and such so it's very important to stay on top of this group especially during comp season/weekends. It's always encouraged to watch and support the other teams but you do not have to stay at the comp all day or all weekend.  You're free to take a break and find food and/or drinks or to leave after your child's award session.

IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT ALL FEES AND DEPOSITS ARE PAID BY THE SPECIFIED DATES AS WE ALSO HAVE DUE DATES THAT WE MUST MEET.

INFORMATION ON THIS PAGE IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE AND MAY BE UPDATED AT ANY TIME!
