So, you are interested in being a dance team member? You've found the right page!
On this page, you'll find all the information you need!
THIS INFORMATION WILL BE UPDATED IN THE SPRING OF 2021 DUE TO ALL THE CHANGING CONDITIONS.
We generally have mandatory team training classes in the summer instead of tryouts but since this year has been so different, we had to change the schedule. This year we will have actual tryouts. You must attend all required days for the team(s) you would like to be on. THIS DOES INCLUDE ALL CURRENT DANCE TEAM MEMBERS. EVERYONE MUST ATTEND THE TRYOUTS. The schedule is at the bottom of this page. We will be focusing on skills & technique requirements while teaching small combinations as well. Make sure you can be at any of the scheduled team practices during the week (see the fall schedule) before trying out. If there is an unavoidable problem with any of the days, be sure to let Sara know before tryouts start. This may or may not affect team placement. You can try out for both hip hop team and regular dance team as they are separate teams or you can try out for either one. If you try out and make both teams, you are considered a member of both teams.
BEING AT TRYOUTS DOES NOT GUARANTEE A SPOT ON A TEAM.
Being on a team takes dedication, hard work and a passion for dance.
All team members are required to be at practice every week.
If you miss a practice, you must arrange a make up class with your coach. If you miss 3 practices without making them up, you will not be allowed to compete and will jeopardize your chance for being on team the following year. Extra practices will be held as competition gets closer and at the coach's discretion. Attendance at these extra practices is also required.
All Dance team members (and their parents) must commit to a full year of team.
This includes the school (competition) year all the way through summer of that year's recital. If you do not take the summer classes (which strongly emphasizes technique), you will not be considered for the following year's team. Dance team members all perform in the opening, the closing and all 3 of their own team's routines in recital.
Competitions are held in the spring (usually in March & April) and will usually involve travelling a few hours and possibly a hotel stay.
Generally, we participate in 3 competitions during the season. These expenses are your own responsibility.
Fees for groups, duets & trios for each competition are each around $50 per dance/per competition. Solos are about $100.
Due dates for competition fees will be announced early and must be paid by the deadlines.
We will have fundraisers to help offset these expenses as they add up quickly!
Other expenses: Also, there will be costs for our team jacket, earrings, tights (a minimum of 2 pairs are highly recommended) and shoes that are all team specific and will be ordered through the studio on announced dates. These items will cost approximately $150 for the first year and will all be ordered in the fall along with costume deposits that will be due sometime in early October. All team items are ordered early to help eliminate the possibility of back orders. Makeup and hair supply lists will be given out in the early part of the calendar year and it is your responsibility to purchase these items.
IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT ALL FEES AND DEPOSITS ARE PAID BY THE SPECIFIED DATES AS WE ALSO HAVE DUE DATES THAT WE MUST MEET.
